Statement

India Davis is an African American female artist based in California. Through her art, she hopes to contribute to the ongoing narrative of black art, exploring its complexities and nuances. Her work is focused around portraitures and black subjects, through which she seeks to empower the female gaze and tell stories of vibrantness, joy and resilience. By exploring the intersection between her own experiences and that of the African-American community, India Davis is inspiring the world to look anew at black history, culture and beauty. India’s art is an ode to the Afro-American identity and her works exist as a celebration of the often overlooked artwork of the African American community.
